he Department of computer science established on July1995 .The Department of computer science offers a degree course in computer science with Mathematics and Statistics as subsidiary subject .The Department offers computer science as subsidiary in UG classes to first and second year students of BSc Mathematics and Chemistry and second and third year students of B.Com. The Department of computer science has five permanent teachers and one guest lecture and one Technical Assistant.
The Department has excellent laboratory facilities in the most modern computing environments. At present the lab has LANs with Windows 7 and GNU/Linux servers with 45 nodes. The students have round the clock access to these facilities including internet facility.
The department courses with their most advanced syllabi provide the students a strong academic foundation to advanced areas in IT studies. The practical component makes the student proficient in programming, enabling them to be competent in the growing software industry. Guest lectures by experts in IT, seminars, workshops symposia etc. are regular features of the Department programme.
LABORATORY:
The department has a well-equipped computer lab with 46 computers (i.e., including 1 server and 45 client computers, one computer for HOD and one for technical assistant). Also we have internet facility for 25 computer systems. We have 2 LaserJet printers and one dot-matrixprinter.
All the systems in lab has configured with LAN facility controlled by an Administrator. LAN support two platforms, Windows and LINUX .All the academic project activities and programs are maintaining through the lab.
The facilities include Internet Proxy Server, Linux Lab, Windows2008 LAN, and Novell Netware LAN. Apart from these, the students also benefit from other laboratory structures provided by the University. The laboratory structures of the Department and the University provide the students full-fledged access to the internet round the clock. The students are thus kept abreast of the latest technologies and developments in IT industry through their constant interaction with relevant sites.
