The Department conducts Second Language courses for Ist and IInd year degree students. Through various programmes and activities the Department strives to instill in the students a love for the national language. The Hindi Day is celebrated on 14th September by conducting programmes and competitions for the students of various colleges affiliated to Kannur University.
