THE   PRINCIPAL 

Having taken M.A. Degree in English Language & Literature from the St. Joseph’s College, Thiruchirappally (Tamil Nadu), affiliated to the Bharathidasan University with First Class,Principal First Rank, and an Outstanding Grade (O) in 1984, Raju George  began his teaching career @ St Xavier’s College, Thumba. He did his research @ the Kerala University Institute of English, Thiruvananthapuram, and was awarded Ph D in 1993 by the University of Kerala for his thesis, Mythical Elements in the Novels of Raja Rao. He became Reader and Head of the Faculty in English @ the Marian College, Kuttikanam in 1995. He has been approved Research Guide @ the Kerala University since 1994, at the Mahatma Gandhi University Centre for Research in English @ the Baselius College,  Kottayam since1996, and at the IGNOU (Indhira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi) Centre for Research @ Nirmalagiri College, Kuthuparamba since 2009.

In 1998 he went to assist the UNDP (the United Nations’ Development Program) as Assistant Prof. of English in the Debub University of Ethiopia (East Africa) for four years. Returning from Ethiopia he was awarded the Post Doctoral Research Fellowship cum Teaching assignment in the Al Tahadi University of Libya (in the Sahara Desert) as Associate Professor of English in 2003. He was appointed Principal of Mary Matha Arts & Science College, Mananthavady in April 2006.  He has won the ‘Prathibha Puraskar’ Bolt Award for Excellence  for Educational Administrators in 2007 instituted by the Air India in association with the Malayala Manorama and the Hindu. In 2008 he took Executive MBA from the National Institute of Business Administration, Chennai.

Dr Raju has presented papers in National and international Seminars, prominent among them is the English Language Teaching Workshop conducted by the Debub University & Addis Ababa University of Ethiopia in association with the US Embassy for Cultural Affairs in Addis Ababa in 2002, and has published articles on African Literature and Orature (Oral literature) in scholarly Journals.
